Our school was identified for Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI) status based on the performance of our Special Education group. This group did not meet the state's performance targets, necessitating additional, targeted support to address their specific learning needs and promote equitable academic outcomes for all students.
We remain fully committed to meeting the needs of each and every student here at Wicomico Middle School. Through intentional collaboration, data-driven instruction, and ongoing professional development, we will continue to work towards closing achievement gaps, strengthening supports, and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed. Additional information can be found by clicking this link.

Our students that are a part of the Young Business Leaders (YBL) program were able to display their presnetation skills in a WMS Shark Tank style presentation to adults at the Junior Achievment Center. Under the leadership of their computer teacher Mrs. Baer-Carpenter our students were the star attraction. We are Warrior Strong. 🖤💛💪🏾 Great job Warriors.

As we near the end of term 1, here are some important attendance reminders of responsibilities for students and parents:

6th Graders in Mrs. Keeler's science classes modeled plate tectonics with cool whip and graham crackers to learn how rift valleys, volcanos, mountains, and earthquakes form.

6th Young Business Leaders in Mrs. Carpenter’s class pitched business ideas for the first time during a “WMS Fishbowl.” A spin off of the traditional “Shark Tank” concept, students pitched to not only their classmates, but special guests from administration, staff, and central office.
The students were tasked with solving a local, environmental, or world-wide problem using a recycled product as a solution to sell to the general public. The best pitch wins a prize.

Note for Wednesday, Oct. 1: Term 1 mid-term progress reports will come out Oct. 1 for students in grades 1-12. Be sure to review the progress report with the student to celebrate successes and set goals at the midpoint of the marking term.

Students in our WMS Program for the Arts, Theatre and Dance track, are performing “songologues”. Student's took a song of their choosing and instead of singing did a dramatic reading. Those who wanted to sing could choose to do so also. The focus is to build one’s confidence as a solo performer, and practice the intricacies of audience etiquette.

Students in the Young Business Leaders Signature School Program are currently creating a Business Model Canvas (BMC) of all the key components needed to create a business in our Innoventure Lab with Mrs. Carpenter.
Students have started creating this Business Model by identifying the Problem, the Customer, and the Solution. Next, they outline the other factors entrepreneurs consider when building a business: Unique Value Proposition of their solution, costs, metrics, revenue, selling channels, and customer relationships.

Students in our Graphic Arts track of the WMS Program for the Arts, have been hard at work this week learning about the designing of character sketches. Students are working to draft designs on paper that will then provide a blueprint for them when they start learning the intricacies of the Adobe Design Suite on our iMacs.
