Mardela will have awesome representation at the 2025 Sr. All County Honors Band Festival. This is a collection of top band students from Wicomico County that will rehearse and perform in a concert on March 28 (think All Shore-lite). This is the biggest group (15) Mardela has had in the four years since this ensemble was started, but what also makes this group special is that 5 of our students are first chair, effectively the top students in Wicomico County on their instruments. Overall here are our reps: Flute: Mabel Orr Serenity Hardy Sienna Larmore Clarinet: Riley Klebon (first chair) Avery Ensor Abigail Bohnsack Sophia Jefferson Bass Clarinet: Layla Tharle Tenor Saxophone: Ethan Holland (first chair) Bari Saxophone: Max Green (first chair) Trumpet: Evan Larson (first chair) Justin Jamrok Trombone: Nick Davala (first chair) Lydia King Percussion: Jacob Lappin

The 2024 Kindness Club Teddy Bear Drive was a huge success! The MMHS Community collectively gathered over 600 stuffed animals for the children who may be having a difficult life experience a the holiday time and sheltering at HALO or Life Crisis. The winning class that collected the most stuffed animals this year was Mrs. Abbott's class! They received a donut party prize for the whole class from the Kindness Club. The kindness club also shared donuts with school administration, administrative assistants, custodians and cafeteria staff.

The Kindness Club and all of our students are so thankful for all of our MMHS teachers every day! Please be kind and remind all of your teachers how grateful you are for them! This year The Kindness Club and the MMHS Community recognized two of our excellent educators with a surprise Peace Bomb Award. One Middle School teacher and one High School teacher were selected. Our esteemed Honorees were Dr. Brooke Keene and Mrs. Cathy Ramey!! We celebrated with Mrs. Ramey just before the holiday break, and due to the holiday, the snow days, delay days, testing days we finally celebrated with Dr. Keene! Please let these excellent teachers and all of your teachers know how much you appreciate all they do for you! We are so fortunate to have wonderful and caring staff at MMHS!

Information about Board of Ed meeting now at 1:30 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. due to winter weather forecast
In anticipation of winter weather affecting the school schedule this week, please note that students will bring home laptops and other materials today. (We recognize this may require students to transport materials back and forth, but it is necessary to be prepared in case snow comes sooner than is currently predicted.) Tomorrow (Tuesday, Feb. 11) will be a school day, but we are announcing now that schools will dismiss 3 hours early on Tuesday, with no after-school or evening activities. Wicomico County Public Schools is prepared to have a virtual learning day on Wednesday, Feb. 12 if needed. School families and staff should remain alert for other school status updates this week.

School status alert for Tuesday February 11, 3 hour early dismissal
The highest level of support on a recent calendar adjustment survey favored making up a missed school day from January by having a school day with early dismissal on Monday, Feb. 17. This calendar adjustment has been recommended to the Board of Education, which will vote on it at its meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
