Did you know students who have 5 or more unexcused absences in a term will fail all of their classes for that term? Attendance is very important to student success in school. If your child has a medical appointment, please request a note excusing it. Parents can send notes excusing up to 5 days per school year. Students with five or more unexcused absences will be placed on an Attendance Intervention Plan to recover days. Remember, we LOVE it when our students arrive to thrive!

6th students in the Young Business Leaders Signature School Program joined together again this morning for another team building challenge. Today’s challenge required them to think like an aerospace engineer where they had to create a paper airplane that will fly over 100 feet. These challenges are designed to create the foundation for collaborative experiences in the program moving forward.

Wicomico Middle's Quarterly Attendance Incentives for the 24/25 school year!
Wicomico Middle School made so much progress last school year with reducing chronic absenteeism (students missing 18 days or more days of school).
The Maryland State Standard is for students to maintain an Average Daily Attendance of 94% and that standard will be the foundation for all of our attendance incentives. Our focus is decreasing our percentage of students who are chronically absent, so it does not matter if the absences are excused or unexcused. We understand that life happens, students end up sick, there are emergencies and other things, but in order to qualify for incentives, they need to be PRESENT 94% of the time. There will be other short-term attendance incentives as well, so be on the look out.
