Our Theatre and Dance Track of the Wicomico Middle Program for the Arts competed in a theater scavenger hunt yesterday where they worked in teams to decipher hints pertaining to theatrical vocabulary and topics, while navigating the crucial pieces that create a performance space. We are blessed to have a theatre space to support our program.
The Wicomico Middle Program for the Arts is an engaging and dynamic initiative designed to nurture creativity and self-expression among students. For the 2025-2026 school year, we are excited to offer two tracks within the program for Wicomico Middle enrolled students: Theatre and Dance, and Graphic Arts.
The program encourages young artists to explore their talents while developing essential skills like teamwork, critical thinking, and confidence. Through hands-on workshops, collaborative projects, and performances, students are inspired to create and innovate, all while building a supportive community that celebrates diverse artistic voices. Whether they’re designing an interactive media piece, composing original music, or performing on stage, students are empowered to discover and share their unique artistic identities.
#Inspire. #Create. #Transform.

Scenes from a celebration: Check out the joy today as all of Wicomico High School packed the auditorium to celebrate WiHi ESOL teacher and 2025-2026 Wicomico Teacher of the Year Emma Cohn Matthews for being one of seven finalists for Maryland Teacher of the Year! Superintendent of Schools Dr. Micah Stauffer and Principal Dr. Undrea Blake were delighted to have the WiHi band, cheerleaders, and all students and staff join in the celebration.
Mrs. Cohn Matthews will have her state panel interview soon. The Maryland Teacher of the Year Gala will be held Sept. 26, ending with the announcement of one of the finalists as the next Maryland Teacher of the Year. Good luck, Mrs. Cohn Matthews! You're an excellent representative of your school and school system, and of all Wicomico teachers.

Because this year we have a sports theme we welcomed our first year teachers to the team with a reallife teacher draft with each teacher being introduced and drafted by AP Binns and they had hype music and they took pictures with head coach Principal Branham as they received their jerseys. We introduced transfer teachers as if they were preseason trades. We are ready to go for our students. Like any sports team. Our motto is this is our year to win the championship. Warriors on three...One, Two, Three WARRIORS!!!!!! Can I get a whoop whoop!!! 🖤💛💪🏾
